Charles Krauthammer is one of the most notable columnists for Fox News. His style of writing is very personalized, and nobody else's writing is quite like his. Even the titles of his articles are special as they often are a play on words, such as his recent article “Political Ax Murder”. His style of writing focuses on keeping the audience's attention by using forms of repetition throughout. When Krauthammer is writing about a specific even, the writing seems to be straight as it was thought in his mind, making his articles seem conversational. The audience behind Krauthammer's articles seem to be primarily adults concerned with political events recent to the article. To me, a 16 year old, his articles definitely aren't appealing mainly because they are about politics, and go into detail about it. The purpose of his articles are to inform the audience about the recent events, primarily in politics, and to go in depth on the subject so the audience can get a deeper understanding of the subject. Like I said earlier, because the writing seems to be written the same way that he thought it in his brain, it brings about a very conversational tone.
Howard Kurtz is another notable columnist for Fox News, having over 30 years of experience in the field of journalism. Many of Kurtz' articles are focused around the point of getting the idea across in as little words as possible. Very few of his articles are found to have "extra" information. Kurtz likely values a very get to the point style of writing based on how his writing reflects just that. In Kurtz' writing, he seems to base his evidence off of claims made by who he is writing about. Often you can find quotations from the person of interest in Kurtz' writing that eventually support his point/argument. Kurtz seems to appeal to an audience that is concerned in politics primarily because his articles are usually based on what is going on in the U.S government and provide many perspectives of the situation due to the included dialogue. The purpose of Kurtz' articles is to give an in depth analysis of his main subject, political events. Another purpose, as stated earlier, is to provide a wide variety of opinions on such events. The tone of Kurtz' articles are often calm and neutral, focusing on every ones perspective, not just his.
